Running your toolkit

Where each practice admin job lives in the Signposting Toolkit, and which guide covers it.

  • Practice admins

Once your practice is live, most admin work happens in two places, both in the menu (☰):

  • Signposting settings — your symptom cards and the signposting page: the Symptom Library, clinical review, highlights, buttons, engagement figures and staff suggestions.
  • Practice settings — things that apply across the whole practice: your team, which modules and AI tools people can use, setup, the Practice Handbook and workflows, Surgery Health and analytics.

You need a Practice admin account to see either of them. See Team and access.

Signposting settings

Open the menu (☰) and choose Signposting settings. The page has these tabs:

  • Symptom Library — every card your practice uses or could use, sorted into folders. Add practice symptoms, switch cards off and on, and preview them. See Cards.
  • Clinical Review — the review queue. Its badge shows how many cards need attention. See the Clinical reviewer guide.
  • Highlight Config — colour highlights for key phrases, and the switch for image icons. See Highlights and buttons.
  • High-Risk Buttons — the red buttons for urgent symptoms.
  • Quick Access — an optional row of buttons for common reasons for contact.
  • Engagement — which symptoms staff view, and when. See Analytics and engagement.
  • Suggestions — suggestions staff have sent about cards. Its badge shows how many are pending. See Suggestions.

Practice settings

Open the menu (☰) and choose Practice settings. It shows a card for each area:

  • Users & access — your team and their roles. See Team and access.
  • Module access — which modules and AI tools your practice has, and who can use the AI tools. See Team and access.
  • Setup & onboarding — your setup checklist, with a count of the essential steps still to do. Once your practice is live, or every setup step is done, the card becomes Surgery Health. See Set up your practice and Setup checklist and Surgery Health.
  • Practice Handbook admin — shown when your practice has the Practice Handbook. See Practice Handbook.
  • Workflow Guidance admin — shown when your practice has Workflow Guidance. See Workflows.
  • Analytics — usage across your practice. See Analytics and engagement.

The Signposting Toolkit team decides which optional modules and AI tools your practice has. See Optional features.

Pages outside the settings screens

  • Appointments Directory (in the menu) — admins see Upload CSV, Add New Entry and Manage Staff Teams at the top of the page. See Appointments directory.
  • A symptom’s own page — admins see Customise Instructions and Customise All Fields (or Edit Instructions and Edit All Fields), Hide symptom for practice (on shared cards you haven’t customised), and the AI tools your practice has. See Cards and AI tools.
